Insights with Kenyn | Building Change

In our first video series for ARGITEK with Kenyn, the CEO and Founder, we delve into his professional journey and the philosophy driving ARGITEK. This conversation revealed the depth of Kenyn’s commitment to leveraging business architecture for social impact and his vision for the future of ARGITEK.

Kenyn began by sharing his unwavering dedication to using business architecture to support public sector organizations in creating social impact. This focus has been a consistent theme throughout his career. He emphasized how understanding and implementing business architecture can significantly enhance an organization’s ability to execute strategy and drive change. This discipline, he believes, is a powerful tool for breaking down silos and fostering a unified approach to achieving organizational missions.

I've really committed myself to figuring out how to share this practice with other organizations that are looking for a new way, a new approach to view their work, to begin to implement strategy, to be more successful in change, to move away from all of their silos and actually begin to be organizations that are advancing towards their mission." — Kenyn B.

Passion for Social Impact

Kenyn began by sharing his unwavering dedication to using business architecture to support public sector organizations in creating social impact. This focus has been a consistent theme throughout his career. He emphasized how understanding and implementing business architecture can significantly enhance an organization’s ability to execute strategy and drive change. This discipline, he believes, is a powerful tool for breaking down silos and fostering a unified approach to achieving organizational missions.

The 360-Degree Approach

A key aspect of ARGITEK’s internal process is the 360-degree approach to idea generation and project execution. Inspired by Patrick Lencioni’s quote on organizational alignment, Kenyn described how ARGITEK ensures that all team members are on the same page. The 360-degree rule involves answering six fundamental questions that align any project or idea with ARGITEK’s core values:

  • Why does X exist
  • How will we behave
  • What will we do
  • How will we do?
  • How will we succeed?
  • What is most important right now
  • Who must do what?

This framework provides a structured yet flexible environment where creativity can flourish, allowing the team to explore and innovate while staying true to the organization’s mission.

The 360-degree approach also plays a crucial role during the execution phase of projects. By addressing questions about the purpose, actions, success metrics, timing, and responsibilities, ARGITEK ensures that each initiative is well-aligned with its strategic goals. While this internal framework guides ARGITEK’s operations, Kenyn pointed out that the principles of business architecture extend these benefits to clients. By focusing on the organization’s core components—skills, resources, policies, and processes—business architecture helps align efforts and optimize value delivery.

Evolving Approach to Driving Change

Kenyn’s approach to driving change has evolved significantly over time. Initially, like many in roles responsible for change management, he focused on cultural alignment through communication and meeting coordination. However, his introduction to business architecture shifted his perspective. He now emphasizes assessing an organization’s health and readiness to adopt change before diving into execution. This nuanced approach ensures that the organization is well-prepared to support and sustain new initiatives, leading to more successful and impactful change management.

Looking ahead, Kenyn anticipates significant shifts in the human services sector, often influenced by political changes and legislative developments. He envisions ARGITEK playing a pivotal role in future-proofing public sector organizations. By providing the tools and insights needed to adapt to regulatory changes and societal demands, ARGITEK aims to help these organizations remain resilient and effective. Kenyn believes that understanding the structure and value delivery mechanisms within organizations is key to navigating and thriving amidst external changes.

Vision

The Bottomline

As ARGITEK continues to grow, Kenyn’s vision includes expanding its reach beyond the United States. He aspires for ARGITEK to have its first international speaking engagement and to become a global voice in business architecture and public sector strategy execution. This ambition reflects Kenyn’s desire to share the benefits of business architecture on an international scale, helping organizations worldwide manage change and achieve their strategic goals.

Our conversation with Kenyn highlighted his profound commitment to leveraging business architecture for social impact and his innovative approach to organizational alignment and change management. As ARGITEK looks to the future, it is poised to become a leading force in the public sector, driving positive change and strategic success both domestically and globally.
